Cookie Policy

Last updated: 4th August 2026

This explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on the Happimate website and app, and how you can control them. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.

In short: we use a small number of cookies. A few are needed to make the site work. The rest — mainly analytics — are only set if you say yes, and you can change your mind whenever you like. Saying no won't stop you using Happimate. We don't run ads and we don't sell your data.

This policy is from Netarcs Ltd (company number 04614488), C/O Mericrest, 8–10 Pembroke Building, Cumberland Park, Scrubs Lane, London, NW10 6RE, United Kingdom — the makers of Happimate. Questions: privacy@happimate.com

1. What we mean by cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a website. It lets us recognise your device, remember your preferences, and see how the site is being used.

We also use a few things that work similarly: local storage in your browser, pixels in web pages and emails, and, inside the app, software development kits and device identifiers. Where we say "cookies" below, we mean all of these.

Some are set by us. Some are set by companies whose services we use — Google, for example. Some disappear when you close your browser; others stay for a set period.

2. Your choice

When you first visit our website you'll see a banner. Nothing optional is set until you choose, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

You can change your mind at any time through Cookie settings, linked in the footer of every page. We'll remember your choice for 12 months and then ask again.

If your browser sends an opt-out signal such as Global Privacy Control, we treat that as a request to turn off optional cookies.

3. What we actually use

Necessary — always on

These make the site work: keeping you signed in where the Services require it, keeping it secure, and remembering the cookie choice you just made. Without them the site can't function, so we don't ask permission — but here they are.

hm_cookie_consent (local storage)Remembers your cookie choice12 months

Analytics — only with your consent

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they use, and where things break. We use it to improve Happimate — not to advertise to you or build a profile of you.

Google Analytics collects your IP address, rough location, browser settings and the pages you view. Your IP address counts as personal data, so our Privacy Policy covers what happens to it, including when Google processes it outside your country.

Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and by Google LLC elsewhere. You can read Google's own explanation, or block Google Analytics everywhere with Google's opt-out add-on.

Advertising — none

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Happimate carries no ads, we don't share cookie data with ad networks, and we don't sell personal data.

4. Inside the app

Apps don't use browser cookies. Instead, the Happimate app stores data on your device so it remembers you're signed in and holds your preferences, and uses analytics and crash-reporting tools — currently Firebase Analytics — to count users and find bugs.

You'll find analytics and personalisation controls in the app's privacy settings. You can also reset your advertising identifier on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or on Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads.

We don't use tracking that requires the "Allow app to track" prompt on iOS.

5. Blocking cookies yourself

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies — see Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Bear in mind these settings apply to one browser on one device, so you'd need to repeat them elsewhere.

If you block everything, including the necessary cookies, parts of the site will stop working — you won't stay signed in, and we can't remember your cookie choice, so you'll see the banner every time. Blocking only the optional ones makes no difference to using Happimate.

For general guidance, try the ICO or All About Cookies.

6. Children

Happimate is for ages 13 and over. We don't use cookies to profile or target children, and we don't use advertising cookies at all.

7. Your rights

Cookies that identify you or your device involve personal data, so the rights in our Privacy Policy apply — access, correction, deletion, objection, and withdrawing consent.

In the EEA, UK or Switzerland you can complain to your national data protection authority; in the UK that's the ICO. In the US, some states give you the right to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising — we don't do any of those, but the United States section of our Privacy Policy has the detail.

Either way, email privacy@happimate.com first and we'll try to sort it out.

8. Changes

We'll update this policy when we add or remove a cookie or change provider, and the date at the top will tell you when. If a change means using cookies for a materially different purpose, we'll ask your permission again first.
